Professional Summary

Xaviera L. a video journalist with 10 years experience in broadcast television. Her journalism career started at the age of 20, where she started working for the national television that is government owned, at that time she was a third-year student at the Journalism school (AHKCO). In those 10 years she has produced and reported on numerous national events. 

As a video journalist she got the opportunity to travel abroad and in the interior of her country. Many of her colleagues didn't want to travel for more than 5 days, but she always took these trips with both arms and her camera.  Many companies had often a budget for one person who can do film, interview and edit.

Her interests are broaden; she added value to her profession by doing different studies such as linguistic, scriptwriting, documentary making, photography, fashion/lifestyle, Art & Culture. In 2019 she and a friend of hers co-anchored a two weekly Arts & Lifestyle radio program. Since 2016 one of her goals was to give young men and ladies in beauty pageants the tools for media, especially when doing interviews on the traditional media platforms. Momentarily she is a past president of her local Junior Chamber International & national officer of the national JCI Suriname. She  is a former board member of the Journalism union & has participated in two program by the American Embassy in Suriname: Journalism Exchange in South Dakota & 2019 IVLP Edward R. Murrow Program of Research and Investigative Journalism. The 2020-2021 Hubert H. Humphrey fellowship is her third achievement.
